University of Maryland, College Park Welcomes Jacqueline Lewis as Vice President of University Relations

Lewis will join UMCP August 28, 2017 as Vice President of University Relations. Lewis comes to UMCP from The University of Iowa Foundation, where she served as Senior Vice President for Development. In this role, Lewis led the implementation of the five-year strategic plan and helped oversee a $2 billion comprehensive campaign.


Peter Goodwin, Ph.D. Named President of University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science

Dr. Goodwin will join UMCES on September 18, 2017. According to USM Chancellor Robert Caret, "Peter Goodwin brings to UMCES an array of expertise that fits ideally into its mission for the future. As a leading research center that seeks to understand and manage the world's environmental resources, UMCES will be well-served by Peter's vision and leadership." Welcome to the USM, Dr. Goodwin!

Thank You President Burnim and President Boesch!

The USM celebrated President of BSU Mickey Burnim and President of UMCES Don Boesch in July. Under Burnim's leadership, BSU added eight degree programs, graduated a record number of students in 2016, and raised $15 million through a fundraising effort that reached its goal ahead of schedule. Under Boesch's leadership, UMCES is recognized as the state's authority on environmental matters, research grants more than tripled and diversified, and the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology was formed. Thanks to President Burnim and President Boesch for your service!
