Dr. Anderson comes to the USM from Texas A&M University-Kingsville where she served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs from 2015-2017. In 2017, Dr. Anderson became Special Advisor to the President. She will begin her term on September 1, 2018.


UMCP Launches $1.5 Billion Campaign

The University of Maryland, College Park launched "Fearless Ideas: The Campaign for Maryland," a $1.5 billion campaign that will support students, faculty, research, arts, and athletics. Gifts and pledges totaling $902 million have already been received from the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation, Brendan Iribe, Kevin Plank, Barry and Mary Gossett, the Robert H. Smith Family Foundation, Emilio Fernandez, and an anonymous donor to launch the Do Good initiative.


Honorary Board Member Robert Fischell Gifts UM School of Medicine $20 Million

Robert Fischell gifted the University of Maryland School of Medicine $20 million that will establish a National Center for Bioengineering Innovation and fund research and professorships. According to the School of Medicine, "the gift is part of Dr. Fischell's longstanding commitment to integrating the fields on medicine and engineering for the benefit of society."

Barry and Mary Gossett Make Historic $21.25 Million Gift to UMCP

UMCP announced a $21.25 million gift from Barry and Mary Gossett to establish a support model for the academic success of student athletes. According to UMCP, The Barry and Mary Gossett Center for Academic and Personal Excellence will "provide student-athletes with the foundation needed to be successful global citizens and make a positive transition to life after college."
