UMBC President Hrabowski Receives National Lifetime Achievement Award

Juliette Bell to Step Down as UMES President

UMES President Juliette Bell will step down as UMES president on June 30 after a six-year tenure. During her presidency, UMES broke into the ranks of the Top 20 HBCUs according to US News and World Report's rankings, established a doctor of pharmacy program, and built the $103 million Engineering and Aviation Science Complex. UMES also had the school's highest four-year graduation rate in 14 years and the highest six-year graduation rate in nine years. President Bell hopes to write a book and spend more time with her family.


UMCP to Receive New Engineering Building

The University of Maryland, College Park will construct a new 60,000-square-foot engineering facility that will allow students to study robotics, manufacturing, quantum technology, and transportation. $25 million of the school's $219 million donation from the A. James and Alice B. Clark Foundation will fund the cost of the construction.


Salisbury University Creates College of Health and Human Services

In the fall, Salisbury University is launching a new College of Health and Human Services that will support workforce demands of the state and the nation. The college will be the largest academic unit on campus with approximately 2,200 students and will house nursing, social work, and health sciences.


UMUC President Miyares Recognized by Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

President Miyares has been named "Outstanding Educator of the Year" by the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (MDHCC). Miyares was recognized on January 18 at the Belvedere Hotel in Baltimore at the MDHCC's annual Business Award Holiday Gala.
