In Memoriam: Lieutenant General Emmett Paige

USMF Honorary Director Lieutenant General Emmett Paige passed away on August 31 at the age of 86. General Paige led an incredible life and served his country with distinction and honor. He carried those values through to his service on our foundation, as well as in his leadership roles at his alma mater, UMUC. He will be missed by many, in particular his three children Micheal E. Paige-Davis, Sandra Alexandra and Anthony Paige. He is predeceased by his wife Gloria, who passed away in April 2016.


$50,000 Endowment for Salisbury's Tom and Nancy Jones Undergraduate Research Fund

Former professor, dean, and provost Dr. Tom Jones and his wife Anne-Marie "Nancy" Jones, established the Tom and Nancy Jones Undergraduate Research Fund at Salisbury University that will provide financial resources for undergraduate students to conduct research and present work in the biological, environmental, and marine sciences.


UMBC Dedicates new Earth and Space Institute

The UMBC Physics Building is home to UMBC's newest research center, the Earth and Space Institute. The Institute will be home to the interdisciplinary earth and space science UMBC researcher do with support from NASA, NOAA, and other federal agencies.


University of Maryland, College Park Welcomes Jacqueline Lewis as Vice President of University Relations

Lewis will join UMCP August 28, 2017 as Vice President of University Relations. Lewis comes to UMCP from The University of Iowa Foundation, where she served as Senior Vice President for Development. In this role, Lewis led the implementation of the five-year strategic plan and helped oversee a $2 billion comprehensive campaign.
